San Diego with Rob

Rob has a conference the first week in January every year. If he is going to a warmer climate than Utah, I naturally tag along. This year, that meant a trip to San Diego. Neither of us had been there. Here is a quick review of our getaway through pictures.

Our chic hotel room at the Bristol:

The first sights that greeted us as we walked along the water:

We were lucky enough to see pelicans feasting as well as dolphins on our trip.

Note the HUGE ship sailing out - it was moving fast. You can gauge it's size by the regular size boat trailing along in it's wake.
We rode a boat out to Coronado Island and saw this view of the city:

On Saturday, Rob was presenting a paper at the conference. My friends Amie & Marty went with me to the San Diego Temple. I have to admit, I felt a little like royalty walking up the sweeping staircases. I thought the interior was just as stunning as the exterior.

Rob and I had a goal to see every ocean sunset possible:
We had one extra day to do something "big." Because of our obsession with zoos (and because we had no car and it was fairly close) we decided to visit the San Diego Zoo.
We tried these foot massagers that left our legs tingly for about fifteen minutes. A crowd gathered around to watch us. Ha!
This tree made me laugh out loud:
After our trip to the zoo, we were determined to see the beach. Just a glimpse. We decided to take a taxi to the ferry, a ferry to Coronado, and bikes to the other side of Coronado where we could glimpse the ocean. It was a race against the sun...and a storm.

Note how blue the sky was when we set off on our biking adventure:

The Coronado Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in the west. We loved our hotel until seeing this one! ;)

A picture of both of us (!)
 The storm blowing in:
The view from our restaurant as we ate dinner on Coronado:
A picture of us after we slogged home in the rain. We often have a glow about us.
Last, but not least...I wish I would have photographed every meal we ate. The food was amazing!

Mexican:
A random hole-in-the-wall-with-wine-glasses Thai place we found. Delish! But spicy!
Our favorite place in San Diego. I won't tell you how many times we walked there or how many cookies we ate. My favorite were chocolate chip walnut and Rob's were snickerdoodle. Now I'm drooling...

What I want to know is who chose Philadelphia (in January) as the next conference location?!

  2. You could at least visit Scranton, just because everyone should... Or at least, drive through it. Don't blink, though, or you'll miss it... :)
