I've been making green smoothies for about two weeks now. I'm longing for a fancy blender (Blendtec or Vitamix), but for now my cheap one is doing just fine. Rob jokes that my goal is to break it. :)
The kids are getting used to drinking green smoothies every morning. Rob likes them. I love them. I'm doing weight watchers (I've lost 10 pounds in the last 6 weeks!) so I only put in fruits and veggies so it's a "0 point" snack. I feel so much healthier and I actually crave my smoothies now! Here are a few we've made:
Note the color variations. :) When I add berries, they turn brown. Lovely, I know.
Some of our favorite ingredients include frozen peaches, strawberries, bananas, carrots and kiwis. Spinach is the easiest green to add, although we've tried red collards and kale. We've also tried mangoes, pears, and apples. I'm amazed at how many of my friends have been making green smoothies. I didn't realize how prevalent they are. It's a great way to get more fruits and veggies in a more natural form.
I'm lazy and buy a powder mix that tastes gross, so I choke it down with apple juice. Kudos for your efforts. I've been playing catch up tonight on your life--nice to know ya again!
