Five Friends and Some Cupcakes

First of all, check out my big boy!! He leads with his belly. And he always has something in each hand. Right now he's dancing while I type by stomping his feet back and forth really fast. But that's for another post:

So I have these four friends...the five of us have been through it all together...major ups, major downs, disappointments, celebrations. We get together at least once a month to hang out, eat good food, talk, laugh, and/or make cards. Although we don't have everything in common, we are all mothers of small children and we've all faced our husbands going back to school together. (Oh - and we all love the Cheesecake Factory). :) I've had really good friends in my life, but never a group of friends like this.

So these pictures were taken on a bittersweet day. My next-door neighbor Melanie hosted a cupcake party...on the morning of her move!! So that we could all say goodbye and take a few pictures before she heads to Idaho. We had a grand time! This is our funniest attempt to get a picture of all our kids. There are better pictures, but this one is so classic. Oh wait! Did I say all our kids? This is all our kids minus the two eldest! (Did I mention there are only five of us?)

Robby really misses his best friend living right next-door. He keeps telling me we need to move to Idaho...he doesn't know how I feel about Idaho winters. I do have to say that everyone I've ever met from Idaho has been really nice. Good luck, Melanie and Kent!!

One last thought: I've watched fifteen families move out of our ward this spring/summer. And many move out of our housing complex. You would think that I would be jealous that everyone is finished with school. All I have to do when I start to feel an inkling of jealousy is picture my stuff in boxes, a moving truck, and scrubbing the walls...then I'm actually happy that we have two more years.

Two more years? Seriously?

  1. Oh wow, your talk of moving makes me a little sick. We JUST moved here in january, and we are going to be moving to a different part of town at the beginning of August. I am SO not excited! Yuck! I'm so happy for you that you've found so many great friends...even if one of them moved away. Friendships are definitely something to be cherished.

  2. I'm glad you've got some great friends in Washington. School can seem very long and it's always nice to have friends that can relate. Blogs are a great way to stay in touch!

  5. Julie,

Okay, I teared up a little as I read about experiencing all our major ups and downs together. Maybe I don't want to move, maybe we'll just rent here forever. I can't leave you guys!!!

The pictures are so funny. I love how my children never look at the camera. A perfect representation. :-)
