In looking at recent posts, I realize that most of them have been about me, my pregnancy, or staying at home. This is partly because that is what is on my mind and partly because I don't actually go places to take pictures of my kids in action.
This post is going to be about my fabulous kids, with or without pictures!
Jacob started first grade this year. He loves school and has been especially excited about the chasing games at recess, eating home lunch, and reading. He just finished his first Magic Treehouse book all in one evening yesterday. It is so exciting to see him catch the reading bug that the rest of us all have! Jacob loves to talk - in fact, I wish there was a stronger way to state this. He is happy to tell you all about his new coat that is too big, the rods that recently got taken out of his arm, which friends he plays with at recess, and random facts about animals. B prepared to listen for awhile if you ask him a question. His favorite pastime right now is jumping on the trampoline by himself or with the family (namely Rob). I think he's making up for the entire summer when he couldn't jump due to his broken arm. Jacob recently learned to pour his cereal and milk all by himself. He says he's a little nervous about having a younger brother because he's the only one of his siblings that hasn't done this before. He just finished his second soccer season and even scored a goal! Jacob is a bundle of sunshine...talkative sunshine.
Robby --
Robby started fourth grade this year. He excels at all things academic and enjoys learning. In fact, he recently approached his teacher to ask if he could create a Powerpoint presentation about Utah habitats and animals...just for fun. Robby especially loves to read and will read anything he can get his hands on -- fiction or non-fiction. We sometimes have to remind him to come up for air when he's reading. :) Robby is involved in chess club and choir. He is doing great on the piano and is very self-motivated. Robby has a close-knit group of friends that get along really well and have similar interests. He's easygoing and generally content with life. Robby is one of the most efficient people I know -- he gets himself ready for school in 15 minutes in the morning so that he has plenty of time to do other things. He is helpful around the house and has mastered jobs like taking out the garbage and doing dishes. He has been patient with being the first in the family to wear braces. Robby loves all things electronic - Kindle Fire, Wii, computer, etc. He finished his fall soccer season - he is quite the defender and saved his team on many occasions. Robby enjoys cooking and has mastered his secret ingredient cornbread...come try it sometime!
Erica --
Erica started sixth grade this year. Only one year until junior high! We brought her back to our neighborhood school this year rather than continuing at the gifted school. We are impressed with the ease of her transition back here. She's handled it so well and seems happier here. Erica is involved in choir and playing the piano. She recently learned how to play her first hymn and actually accompanied the Activity Day daughters and moms at their activity last week! Erica's competitive soccer team recently finished second in their bracket - even though she plays with the girls a year older than her (and is much smaller in comparison), she is a determined defender with no fear. Erica is a natural with our dog and can't walk past Zoe without petting her. Erica has really stepped up since I've been home-bound and unable to do a lot of the usual chores. She's learned how to do laundry and is always asking me if I need anything. She's going to be a great mom one day. She also patiently sacrificed her bed because it has a much better mattress and is the only mattress in our house I can sleep on in this last month or two of pregnancy. Erica is another that loves to read and can be caught in bed with a flashlight on more than a few occasions. Erica is capable enough to babysit her brothers and cook simple meals. It is so nice to have an 11-yr-old!
Love these kiddos!
