Mama's Boy

Jacob said "Mama" for the first time tonight!! He totally melted my heart. The only problem is, I'm not sure that he knows that I am "mama." :) He would say "mama" and then when the entire family cheered, he would burst out laughing.

Jacob is 17 months old. He has recently learned to climb on the kitchen table, open the oven, and scavange through the trash can like a raccoon. His latest discovery is how to open the front door of the community center where I work and walk right out...can we say Trouble? He's also learned to color with crayons, spin in circles, bring me his shoes while begging to go outside, and how to do the actions to "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" (or is it Eensy weensy?). We fed him a bit of avacado tonight and he tried to scrape every bit off his tongue. I'd say his greatest loves right now are crayons, bottles (trying to break that one), and my cell phone...which he keeps in a death-grip. He LOVES his family. Erica and Robby can make him laugh even when he's upset. He stands at the window crying whenever Rob or I take out the garbage. If only I could figure out a way to get him to hold still during a diaper change...I have a feeling he won't ever hold still.

Jacob makes us smile everyday. I can't believe he's almost 18 months old...time goes so quickly.
