It was a busy day at the Locks, so we saw quite a few boats go through the locks. We had fun watching the workers toss ropes to the boats and we felt sorry for the boat drivers that couldn't steer...no pressure with about forty people watching!
I LOVE living in a city on the water!!
Rob and the kids obliged...I thought this stoplight would make for a very cool picture.
We saw a pirate ship go through!! Or at least a regular boat with a pirate flag. The kids were ecstatic. :)
We were peering through the big damn watching poor little fish shoot out of the water holes. (See picture below this one).
I love this picture for obvious reasons :)
We spent about fifteen minutes trying to get a picture of this heron in flight. A few of us would go scare him a little so he would fly.
After many failed attemps, we finally succeeded! It was worth the time spent.

Here's to family and water -- always a great combination!!
Oh I love the Ballard locks. When I was growing up in Tacoma and my grandparents lived in Kirkland - I would stay with them in the summer and they would always take me here. Such a fun thing for kids (and adults alike).

ReplyDeleteThere's a little museum about the locks there too, might be a little boring for kids but I think they have interactive stuff.
