Last Saturday, Denise invited over our preschool kids (and their siblings) to make gingerbread houses...FROM SCRATCH!! She baked all of the gingerbread pieces, following a pattern to get them just the right size. The quality blew me away! We each whipped up a batch of sticky, sturdy frosting to hold our houses together. It worked better than a store-bought kit we tried last year (when La and I whipped out the hot glue gun to repair a broken roof =).
Here is how it all began. The moms decided to "glue" the houses together with frosting before having the kids come decorate.
Robby spent much more time eating than decorating:
The Gingerbread chef, hard at work:
Barbara and Bryn beginning their masterpiece
The finished village...and some hyper kids
Our darling house. All symmetry is attributed to Erica. "Symmetrical" is her new favorite word.
The other side of our darling house:
I'm happy to report the masterpiece made it home in the trunk of our car and although Rob threatened to eat the chimney, is still in tact.
