It has been one crazy day.
Yesterday, Erica made these cute lil' cake pops at Activity Days to give Rob for Father's Day. She hid them (unbeknownst to anyone but her...and eventually the dog) under our entertainment center. Today Zoe dug one out and ate the entire thing. And it was chocolate, which can be lethal to dogs. After calls to the vet and to Rob, I had to give Zoe hydrogen peroxide to make her vomit. Thankfully, she's been fine ever since. And even more thankfully, Erica cleaned up said vomit.
Next on the agenda? Jacob's cast coming off! Everything went smoothly, although he still won't look at his arm. It's discolored and covered in a layer of dead skin. Plus, he can still see his surgery stitches. Not to mention the place where the metal rods are closest to the skin. Ew! He hasn't straightened it yet and says it hurts to move his fingers and wrist. As ironic as it is, we both felt safer with the cast on! Here are some fun pictures. Jacob's face in the second picture is due to the cast cracking open like an egg.
After that appointment, I headed to the OB to hear baby BOY's heartbeat (yes, it's a boy!). But even that visit comes with it's craziness. First of all, the power was out all over Provo - including the traffic lights and the doctor's office. Then, my doctor was called out for surgery. Last of all, my blood draw went awry and resulted in a painful lump that makes it so I can't straighten my arm.
All of that called for some frozen yogurt!! Perfect end to a crazy day.
For anyone still reading, I have a few fun and happy bits of news from the last few days.
In order to beat the summer-bickering that was beginning, we set up a lemonade stand...the kids made SIXTEEN dollars!! At only 25 cents a cup! That's what happens when you offer lemonade, raspberry lemonade, and limeade. And when you stage your darling 3-yr-old cousin in a chair waving to cars. Thanks, Dade. Pretty sure my kids owe you a cut!
On an extremely positive note, I have been relatively pain free the last two weeks!! (My dad says I probably should hesitate to put that in writing so I don't jinx myself.) My chiropractor (who I cannot recommend highly enough) and a newly found massage therapist/natural healer (May Popham) are helping my pelvic pain more than I ever thought possible. Their approach is to wake up and loosen all the muscles that attach to my pelvis. I'm not sure if this pain free window will last another day or another month, but I will happily take whatever my body is willing to give! I feel so blessed in this regard.
We found out what we are having at our early ultrasound. Rob and I were both a little surprised to find out it was a boy - all our names were girl ones. :) But we are super excited to have another little man join our family. I was surprised enough at the gender that I'm happy we'll be having a follow-up regular ultrasound in 3 1/2 weeks...that way we can reconfirm.
i'm so happy for you that you're pain has gone away for now! i hope it continues. :)
