(sorry about the odd spacing...I'll fix it later. Right now blogger is driving me mad!)
I have so many great pictures from our trip, I decided to blog in pieces. We had a wonderful time, despite the stomach flu, pink eye, ear infection, and cold. :)
The first morning we were there was Valentines day & the kids made and decorated Valentines sugar cookies with my mom. My mom has a ton of patience. I think we made about forty cookies. They were YUMMY!! Especially the ones with chocolate chips. I've included a picture of Erica's Creation:

One of the best parts of our trip was playing in the fenced in backyard. Here are pictures of Jacob with his first grass experience. He hated the grass. His mean mommy would put his favorite toys in the grass to see if he disliked the grass enough to ignore his toys. It was sure easy to play outside because he stayed on his blanket "island." Later he invented his "uh-oh" game and kept dropping things over and over. This was very cute until he tried to play it on the plane. Isn't his shirt cute?
Erica had fun collecting nature items. She put dozens of potato bugs (what's the plural of roly-poly?) in a bag with lots of things for them to eat and play with. At first, she sealed the bag until I told her they couldn't breath. Whoops! Then she left the bag up in a tree overnight so they wouldn't escape.
Robby had a blast with the $2 bat and ball we bought at Wal-Mart. Oh how I miss having a Wal-Mart nearby (I never thought I'd say those words). My mom has two within two miles! (Speaking of Wal-Mart, their White Cloud diapers solved my diaper leakage issue I mentioned in my previous post.) Later, Grandpa Bert & Erica had a lot of fun with the bat and ball, too.

This leads to the LEMON tree!! Watch for later posts of making homemade lemonade! Grandma and Grandpa had lemons, tangelos, and broccoli for the picking. It was almost enough for me to want my own garden one day. The lemons you see in the picture are the ones picked from the pruned branches! My kids were in heaven. Look at Erica tugging that lemon!

I love my kids and I love them even more in a fenced-in backyard!!
Is that sun? Sounds like Arizona is a whole other world right now. That lemon tree is gorgeous! Robbie is so cute with that baseball bat.
ReplyDeleteThose are fun pictures. It reminds me of the lemon tree in parents' back yard. I can't believe the cheap-o diapers solved the problem. Those are the ones I used for bedtime for my kids. I have a love-hate relationship with Wal-Mart. I'm kind of glad it's too far away, but I know I spend more money now. Glad you had a great trip. Sorry about the illnesses. Erika was convinced that daddy would forget to pick up her and Robby from primary today, and that she needed to go find him. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea your mom had a lemon tree out there! If I had realized I would have begged you for some lemons! There is nothing better than fresh citrus and homemade lemonade! LOVE IT! Yes, it was so fun to see you guys. I'm so glad you let us come over! I'll send you those pics soon I promise :o)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful time with your family. I have dreams about havinf a fenced yard for my kids to play outside with out having to worry about them. I love the lemon tree. They looked so lucious. I love the pictures. Your kids look so happy
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how is Erica doing that? She looks like she's trying to be a rocking horse! Mmmmmn, those lemons look gorgeous enough to put in a lemon pound cake!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the White Cloud brand. That's all Kimber and Sam wore. We never got them for Alli, I don't remember why...anyways I LOVE living 5 minutes from Walmart! I just wish it was a Super Walmart (although that is only 15 or so minutes from my house). Anyways, we need to get together...maybe my mom will offer to feed us all soon :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun trip!
I am super jealous of the lemon tree. F-U-N.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast! I loved all the citrus in Arizona when I lived there forever ago. Looks like you had a great time with your family!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun!! Wow, your kids have grown so much!!! (Well, duh, it's been a year and a half since I've seen them.) But anyway, I know what you mean about Wal-Mart. One of my favorite things about moving is that I have one less than a mile away and another within 3 miles. Rock on. So when you hit Wal-Mart in Lynnwood, come see us! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch friendly and familiar faces! I'm glad you had a fun time with them. I'm dying over that lemon tree. With the amount of lemons I use, I am determined to buy one this year. That picture clinched the deal!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, how in the world can I change my blog background to be cute and customized--I got some really complicated instructions from someone and want to cry. If you have advice, could you email me?
Very nice blog...I love it
ReplyDeleteThat lemon tree makes me want to move to Arizona! It looks like you had a great time, sun and a fenced in backyard? Who needs anything else? :)
