Last weekend we went to see Diego Live! I took Erica to see Dora Live about two years ago and we had a great time. So we decided to embark on another adventure, an animal adventure, to be exact. Here we are before the show:
We went with the Barkdulls. Each child was given a Baby Jaguar mask. Robby didn't know what to expect. He told me afterward that "it was kind-of like the movie, but a little different."
The first people that came on stage were these creepy green guys...I was afraid we accidentally walked into a horror show!
Here is a picture of Diego and Baby Jaguar (who had an excellent voice...too bad we don't know what she looks like!)
There was a surprise visit from...Dora herself! The 5-and-under crowd went WILD!
We felt sorry for the actors that had dreams of making it big on broadway...and got cast as a dancing Coconut Tree. Can you imagine putting that on your resume?
Intermission got a little silly...
When Erica wasn't analyzing how the scenery and sets worked, she was really entertaining:
Here she is dancing in the aisle like we were at a U2 Concert!
When asked how he felt when he got the part, Diego is quoted on NickJr.com as saying: "It's such an honor. You can't pass a group of kindergarteners on their way to school without seeing at least one Diego or Dora backpack or lunchbox. To have the chance to portray this iconic character on stage across North America is exhilarating, not to mention the joy of bringing live theatre to many children for the first time."
Hey - it was a step up from his previous role as Tico the Squirrel in Dora Live! ;)
This video gives a taste, including the dancing Coconut Trees!

Great post. I'd never considered a career in acting until now.
ReplyDeleteYou're now officially "tagged." Basically that means that you can (a) post 7 "interesting" facts about yourself, (b) feel guilty about not posting 7 "interesting facts about yourself, or (c) figure out how to delete this comment. The good news is that, once you have written up your 7 things you can "tag" a few other friends and feel some joy at their misery, knowing that you won't have to experience it again. It's kind of like parenting in that way - at least that's what my inlaws tell me - the greatest joy as a parent comes from watching your children suffer as parents themselves.
It looks like fun Julie! I have never thought about taking our kids...probably because we would have to take them SO far to do it, but was worried since they weren't the cartoon the kids would be disappointed. Now I might consider it! I love that quote from the actor too!
ReplyDeleteGood for you and Denise bring culture into your childrens lives. I showed James the pictures that you posted. He is a big fan of Dora and diego.
